About the Usman Moon Scholarship Programme
The Usman Moon Scholarship supports academically deserving students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them continue their education. The programme follows clearly defined eligibility criteria, financial coverage guidelines, and renewal procedures to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Students are evaluated based on two key criteria:
financial need and academic merit.

Financial need
We assess applicants’ financial circumstances through supporting documents and, where necessary, household verification.
B
Academic Merit and Interview
Academic performance, educational commitment, and personal circumstances are considered during the scholarship evaluation process.

Educational expenses are covered up to Intermediate level. The maximum scholarship amount depends on school fees, location, and available funding. Approved limits are communicated to each family when the scholarship is awarded.
Scholarship Duration and Renewal Process
Assistance is provided for one year. Recipients are eligible to reapply for future assistance. Academic progress is reviewed each semester.
Scholarship funds are disbursed according to the academic calendar to ensure timely payment of tuition fees and other approved educational expenses.
Assistance ceases and becomes repayable by the parents or guardian within six months if the student is found guilty of misconduct in school, if negligence is found on the student’s part during their studies, if the student fails any school examination during the period of assistance, or if attendance falls below 75% during any month. In these cases the student will not be eligible to apply for the Usman Moon Scholarship in future.
Our Educational Impact | 2010–2026
Since 2010, ILM SOCIETY has supported approximately 5,300 scholarship awards for deserving and underprivileged students. In addition, our two ILM School Network campuses provide fee-free education to approximately 450 students annually, reflecting our continued commitment to making quality education accessible to every child, regardless of financial circumstances.

How Students Are Identified and Selected

Networks and referrals — Teachers, volunteers, and community partners identify and refer families who may require financial assistance.

Direct applications — Parents or guardians can apply by completing the official application form and submitting the required documents through ILM Society’s designated channels.

Campaigns — Website notices and SMS drives widen reach across neighbourhoods we serve.
Zakat Collection and Utilisation for Educational Support
Zakat contributions are allocated to eligible scholarship beneficiaries in accordance with the Shariah guidelines adopted by ILM Society. All Zakat is utilised within one year — before the next Ramadan — so funds stay timely and purposeful.
Applicants who wish to receive Zakat-funded assistance sign a Zakat declaration on the application form, confirming that they are eligible for assistance from Zakat as per Shariah.
ILM SOCIETY has a dedicated Zakat Verification Team responsible for assessing beneficiaries’ financial circumstances, obtaining written declarations from the heads of families, conducting home visits to verify eligibility, and ensuring the transparent, accountable, and Shariah-compliant allocation of Zakat funds.

ILM SOCIETY has established a dedicated online donor portal, enabling donors to securely monitor the real-time educational progress and support status of their sponsored students. This initiative reinforces our commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible utilisation of donations while safeguarding students’ personal information.
